April is the Month of the Military Family in Florida! Students and staff were asked to “Purple Up!” today, April 15, 2026, by wearing purple as a visible way to show support and thank military children. Purple was chosen because it is the color that symbolizes all branches of the military. It is a combination of Army green, Coast Guard blue, Air Force blue, Marine Corps red, Space Force blue and Navy blue. Did you purple up? As the end of the school year approaches, that means Summer BreakSpot is right around the corner!
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ (FDACS) Summer BreakSpot Program
will be sharing their live map with over 3,000 sites for summer meals on May 15.
Summer BreakSpot is a federally funded program filling the hunger gap by serving nutritious meals to Florida kids and teens while school is out.
Thousands of locations across Florida will provide kids 18 and under breakfast, lunch, and/or snacks at no cost, including schools, community centers, churches, & more.

Huge congratulations to our incredible elementary students who showcased their science fair projects at the Lake County Schools Science and Engineering Fair today! Their curiosity, creativity, and hard work were on full display, and we are so proud of the innovation they brought to this year’s competition. A big thank‑you to the judges, teachers, and families who supported these young scientists along the way. 👉 Next up: Middle and high school projects on Friday. We can’t wait to see what our older students have in store!

The National School Bus Safety Week Poster Contest is now open for submissions! This year's theme is "Safe Rides, Everyday Heroes." We encourage students to think about what safety means to them and how they view bus drivers and community members as everyday heroes who help ensure they get to school safely. Posters should be submitted to the department's School Transportation Management Section by April 17, 2026.
